Hello! I'm back.
I've been all over the place since November, but now I'm back to start the Blind Contours again.
Starting today. This is my current favourite CD.

Thai Dragon

I decided to attempt something with a lot of detail this week, and so chose to blind contour the most intricately carved wooden dragon in the world. This beastie came from Thailand and is such a complicated curly shape with lots of sharp points and tricky details. I really enjoyed doing this one, and I'm not too appalled at the results.

We have just got back from 10 wonderful days in Vietnam and Thailand. Between the two of us, we took 39 rolls of film, approximately 1320 photos! |

| Blind Contour Silly Face |
[Nov. 11th, 2005|11:16 am] |
So, this week Niff challenged us to tackle silly faces as our Blind Contour subject. I was pretty wary because I really am quite terrible at drawing faces at the best of times.. However, it turned out to be hilarious fun.

So I drew my boyfriend Ross. (May I just point out that he looks nothing like this in real life.) And then he thought it would be even funnier if whilst I was blind contouring, he would hit my hand and pen repeatedly with a long cardboard tube in an attempt to simulate incoming heavy fire in order to see how well i could BC under pressure.
Thus....

Goshhh. |

This is a traditional German wooden toy.. a photographer. I think I might call him Gunther. We bought him in Koln a couple of years back, he's actually an incense burner of sorts - the smoke comes out of his mouth. But he's never been used for that. He just stands on the bookshelf, sucking on his empty pipe and pondering life. |

Uh, I'm sorry..this is a pretty lame attempt this week, but I'm not feeling very well, and I wasn't up to drawing much. Although, my headache induced confusion and disorientation seems to have had an interesting effect on the placement of things here..
And I know, I know, the iPod is the ultimate symbol of this modern world's perverse obsession with novelty, but hey, it's a pretty green and plays rather excellent music which helps me get through these long days at work... |

This is what we had for breakfast. Kinder Chocolate! And that's Ross's coffee, I drink tea. The little red thing botom left is a stray M&M i adopted. This is my first ever attempt at colouring in photoshop. I don't know if it makes it look better or worse. My colouring skills are legendary, on account of how bad it is.
So here's the un-coloured version:

Thought I'd draw one of my japanese wooden dolls, and then decided to do the little maneko-neko cat too. Each needed several attempts!

| Venice sketches |
[Sep. 28th, 2005|01:58 pm] |
Okay. I have to be completely honest, I'm really crap at sketching..I've left it so long I'm out of practice. I haven't drawn or painted for 7 years due to a chronic case of artist's block, and I'm only just starting to get my inspiration back.
So, when I was in Venice, I only managed one sketch, a half-finished one at that. I'm not pleased with it, which is why it is hidden ( behind here ) |

Venice. Mask shops everywhere. I thought this was cool that we found this shop, until we realised that practically every other shop makes the same claim!

This arrived yesterday, my polaroid 450... or "Polarod" - I was concentrating so hard on writing blind that I seem to have lost my ability to spell.
And to make up for my non-participation last week, here's some raisins.. (or, "paisins") That was hard, writing semi-upside-down and back-to-front. These raisins have been sitting on my desk for a few weeks now, and I'm a little bit afraid of them..
